On Wednesday, graduates braved the summer heat to attend a wonderful graduation ceremony at Middlesex University.

The event was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the incredible hard work and dedication of everyone who has completed a Postgraduate certificate, Diploma or MEd with Dyslexia Action and our sister company, Real Training. We are incredibly proud of our students, who apply their learning to build truly inclusive environments for adults and children with dyslexia.

One of our amazing students, Annie Fowler, was collecting her Postgraduate Certificate (PG Cert) in Specialist Teaching in Literacy-Related Difficulties alongside an MEd in SEND and Inclusion through Real Training.

For those of us who write assessment reports, one of our major aims is to try to save time where possible and the other is probably to make sure that our reports are as accurate as they can be: so that we can achieve a professional feel to our reports.  Our concerns about accuracy can often cost us time and I am sure I am not the only one who spends hours re-reading and correcting while watching precious time ebb away on the clock.

Working in the field of dyslexia (and other literacy difficulties) is incredibly rewarding. You will have the potential to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people or adults, helping dyslexic students learn to read, as well as develop vital life skills. 

To become qualified to provide one-to-one or group tuition for dyslexic primary, secondary or adult learners, you will need to gain a literacy-focused Level 5 or Level 7 qualification in Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD). Handwriting continues to be an important skill for children to use to communicate their knowledge in the classroom. It also remains an important component of wider literacy development. Furthermore, handwriting difficulties are often reported amongst people with dyslexia. Despite the importance of handwriting, there has been relatively little effort to understand handwriting development compared to reading and spelling. With summer just around the corner, why not save on our Continuing Professional Development units?

We have released a special summer offer for short courses starting 10 July. Save £10 +VAT per course when you join our July cohort.

Our CPD short courses are delivered entirely online and do not require access to a student or learner, so would be perfect to complete over the summer break.

Suitable for teachers, SENCos, practitioners, teaching assistants, learning support staff, language therapists, tutors, lecturers, and those who support students with literacy difficulties, dyslexia and other specific learning of all levels, our courses focus on nurturing the development of learners within the classroom/learning environment both with and without specific learning difficulties.

Each unit requires between 20-30 hours of study over a seven-week period and tutor support is given through online forums throughout the duration.
