One day attendance course on
Wednesday 24 June 2020 at the University of Bath, East Building.

We will also be holding The Dyslexia Guild Annual Summer Conference the following day (same venue and location) on Thursday 25 June 2020.

Why take this Course?

This course has been specifically designed to update specialist teacher assessors on the SpLD Assessment Standards Committee (SASC) requirements for dyslexia/SpLD report writing and to meet Assessment Practising Certificate (APC) renewal criteria.

The attendance course runs over one day and is led by two experienced specialist assessor trainers, qualified in diagnostic assessment report writing and assessment testing for dyslexia/SpLD. Participants will be able to update their knowledge and understanding by revisiting and reviewing, aspects of statistical constructs; the new structure of a SASC diagnostic assessment report criteria for specific learning difficulties and the continuing professional development activities required in order to maintain practice standards.

Dyslexia Action Training is a SASC Authorised CPD Provider. Five learning hours are recognised and accredited by SASC as fulfilling, in part, the (minimum) 20 CPD hours required over three years that contribute towards gaining or renewing an APC.

Learning Outcomes – the participant will be able to:

  • Demonstrate understanding of important basic Assessment Practising Certificate (APC) statistical constructs such as the normal distribution curve and confidence intervals
  • Describe the new structure of a SASC Post-16 Years Diagnostic Assessment Report for Specific Learning Difficulties
  • Recognise the key characteristics that distinguish a diagnostic report that meets current SASC criteria
  • Demonstrate commitment to undertake continuing professional development activities in order to maintain professional practice standards.
