Pupil Referral Units

The Sylvia Adams Trust supported our projects in Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) in Bristol, Leeds and Lincoln. Through this work with the young people who have been excluded from school, we have been able to put together an identification and intervention programme that can now be rolled out across the country.

Across Bristol, Leeds and Lincoln PRUs we have:
Delivered awareness training to 42 members of staff
Apprentice trained 11 key members of staff
    Screened 33 learners for dyslexia
    Given 30 learners direct support
Given 200 learners indirect support (through apprentice training of staff)

There were strong project outcomes: all three PRUs developed improved sustainable practise and skills in identifying and supporting students with dyslexic/SpLD and literacy difficulties.
